NICK Kyrgios' epic five-set comeback Australian Open win over Andreas Seppi was even more amazing than you think. Check out these stats.

YOU WANT A GOOD OMEN? HERE'S A GOOD OMEN

Kyrgios, 19, is the first teenager to make two Grand Slam quarter-finals since 2001. Who was the last person to do it? Some chap by the name of Roger Federer.

WANT ANOTHER ONE?

He's the first Aussie to make the Australian Open quarter-final since Lleyton Hewitt went all the way to the final in 2005.

HE DOESN'T MESS ABOUT

The classic Rafael Nadal v Novak Djokovic Australian Open final in 2012 had 369 points and lasted 353 mins. Kyrgios v Seppi had 365 points, but only lasted 214 mins.

HE'S FOLLOWING IN SOME IMPRESSIVE FOOTSTEPS

He's the third Australian man to reach the Australian Open quarter-final as a teenager, after Brad Drewett (1976) & Pat Cash (1982, '84).

HE'S GOT A KILLER SERVE

85% of the points won by Kyrgios on his own serve were rallies of three shots or fewer.

HE'S MAKING SOME SERIOUS SCRATCH

Kyrgios is now guaranteed to take home at least $340,000 (what you get for losing a quarter-final). If he somehow manages to go all the way, he'll pocket $3.1m. That's enough to replace a lot of broken racquets.

HE LOVES A LOST CAUSE

The kid is making an art form of five-setter comebacks. He came back from two sets down to beat Richard Gasquet in the second round at Wimbledon last year, winning 10-8 in the decider, just like against Seppi.

HE LOVES EMULATING HIS IDOLS (AND HAS A GOOD NOSE FOR IRONY)

With his 7-6 (7-5), 5-7 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 victory over Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon last year, Kyrgios became the first teenager to defeat a world No. 1 at a grand slam since Nadal did it himself against Roger Federer in the 2005 French Open.

HE'S DISGUSTINGLY YOUNG

Kyrgios was born in 1995, doesn't turn 20 until April, and first started playing tennis at six years old, in 2001. By that stage, Roger Federer had already been a pro for three years.
